​iOS 27, Your App, and Siri​

Early reports suggest the new SiriAI is finally good enough to use in iOS 27. That means it's finally time to take App Intents and Siri support seriously in your app. My guess is that a lot of your users will be using the new SiriAI this fall, so your app needs to be ready. This article is a great starting point for getting started with SiriAI support in your app.

​Is horizontalSizeClass Still Reliable?​

There may, or may not be, a new mythical, alleged, foldable device being launched this fall that our apps will need to support. iPhone apps will be able to be resized on Mac, iPad (and maybe a yet to be released device) and a lot of us were using the .horizontalSizeClass == .compact to check if we were on an iPhone or an iPad so we could adjust our layout accordingly. We may have to handle that in a new way going forward and that's what this article talks about.

​Ratings Prompt During Onboarding - Risk Rejection​

Many apps were popping up the ratings prompt during onboarding because users were tapping a lot of buttons during onboarding so they would usually just tap 5 stars and move on. This was a way for apps to gather a ton of ratings. Well, it appears Apple is cracking down on that and rejecting apps and updates that have the ratings prompt in the onboarding.

​Swift Package Index Joins Apple​

We all use Swift Packages in our apps and the Swift Package Index has now joined Apple. They haven't revealed future plans yet, but one could imagine better first party support. If you're not familiar, the Swift Package Index automatically tests every Swift package across supported platforms and Swift versions, giving developers confidence before adding a dependency. It's been a valuable tool for the community.
